As Arkansas educators prepare for the first full year of TESS implementation, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) recognizes the need for ongoing training support on the evaluation framework.
Teachscape’s Focus for Teachers will support a teacher’s understanding of the Framework for Teaching and will assist them in improving identified areas as indicated through the Arkansas Teacher Evaluation System.
During the 2013-14 pilot year, all educators were able to access Teachscape’s Focus for Teachers (formerly known as FfTES) through their Arkansas IDEAS accounts. The contract with Teachscape for this training program has been extended to allow access to the training modules throughout this summer and the 2014-15 school year. The training modules are currently available to all Arkansas educators and will continue to be available and accessed through Arkansas IDEAS until May 31, 2015. Districts have flexibility in how teachers complete and document training on the evaluation framework, but are encouraged to utilize this resource for educators. Other training resources are available on the ADE TESS website, including training presentations and facilitation guides which align with the Teachscape resources. All teachers should take steps to make sure their Arkansas IDEAS account is current. “TESS Teachscape Coursework” Modules can be accessed at http://ideas.aetn.org/tess/teachscape-tess-resource.
