The Arkansas Department of Education is offering a late Summer Academy cycle for the 2012 Non-Traditional Licensure Program (NTLP, www.teacharkansas.org). This late cohort is offered predominantly to meet school districts’ needs in critical academic shortage areas as approved by the Arkansas State Board of Education. Initial instructional modules will be held during the weeks of July 9-13, 16-20 and 23-27 in North Little Rock at Pulaski Technical College.
Due to program capacity, this cohort is limited to 40 candidates on a content-specific availability and first-come, first-served basis. Candidates must have been offered a teaching position in an Arkansas public school district. If the position is in Early Childhood or Middle Childhood, candidates must have completed the two required Teaching Reading courses and the Arkansas History course in advance. Also, to be approved to begin the Late Summer Academy, each candidate must provide to the NTLP office (by noon on Friday, July 6) a letter from the school district indicating the prospective hire.
More information on the late cohort can be found on the accompanying information sheet. Questions should be directed to Ms. Patti Froom at NTLP, 501 Woodlane, Suite 220-C, Little Rock, AR 72201 (501-682-5763, patti.froom@arkansas.gov).
Note: The Teacher Recruitment Office and NTLP offer assistance to school districts that need additional teachers. Both offices retain a list of Non-Traditional teachers who are already licensed and prepared to teach.
