All Child Nutrition Directors in Arkansas school districts that participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) that are paid from the non-profit food service account are required to be certified by the Child Nutrition Unit (CNU) of the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), as per the Final Rules Governing Child Nutrition Directors Certification approved by the Arkansas State Board of Education.
The Child Nutrition Director’s Certification training will be held July 9-20, 2012, at Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway, Arkansas. Registration will be Monday, July 9 from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM. The first general session will begin at 10:00 AM. All other classes will be held daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Lunch will be provided daily. For a Director candidate to attend Director Certification training, the following steps must be completed by the required deadlines: STEP 1 Review Arkansas Child Nutrition Director Certification Program Requirements. Complete the APPLICATION FOR ACCEPTANCE for the program and mail to: ADE Child Nutrition Unit 2020 West 3rd St., Suite 404 Little Rock, AR 72205 Attn: Wynona Bryant-Williams The application will be reviewed to assure that it is complete and that education requirements and required recommendations are included. THE APPLICATION FOR ACCEPTANCE DEADLINE IS May 14, 2012. STEP 2 The applicant will be notified of acceptance into the program. Notification of acceptance will include the STEP 2 Registration Form, which must be completed and mailed to University of Central Arkansas (UCA) along with the registration fee. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS June 15, 2012.
