The ACTFL Oral and Written Language Proficiency exam is currently required for teacher licensure in Mandarin Chinese 7-12 in Arkansas. On July 9, 2012, the State Board of Education approved this exam to be replaced with the Praxis exam #5665, Mandarin: World Language (with a cut score of 164). The effective date for this new exam is September 1, 2012. This test will be required in addition to the currently required World Languages Pedagogy exam #0841.
The Office of Educator Licensure will continue to accept the current exam for licensure in Mandarin Chinese for up to three years after September 1, 2012, as long as it was taken prior to that effective date. Old exams taken after the effective date of new exams may not be used for licensure purposes.
