Beginning September 24, 2012, through November 30, 2012, the Arkansas Department of Education/Child Nutrition Unit (ADE/CNU) will be hosting 65 workshops around the state. The Part 1 Workshop on the New Meal Pattern Requirements will be for all district child nutrition employees. The Part 2 Workshop on the Districts Requirements for the Performance-based 6 Cents Certification will be for district child nutrition directors and managers. Attendance at these workshops will not be limited unless there are facility limitations.
The workshop will consist of two parts;
v Part 1 - New Meal Pattern Changes for Directors/Managers/Workers
from 3pm-6pm
Ø New Lunch and Breakfast Meal Pattern Changes
Ø New Offer Versus Serve Requirements
Ø Age/Grade Groupings
Ø Calorie Minimum and Maximum Levels
v Part 2 – District Requirements for Performance-based 6 Cents Certification for Directors/Managers from 9am-3pm - Computers will be available at these sites or bring a laptop for use in completing the USDA Tool
Ø Documentation Requirements for 6 Cents Certification
Ø Assistance in completing the USDA Menu Planning Tool –
§ Bring a zip-drive to copy the completed tool onto or a laptop computer to complete the tool on
§ Bring menus for the 5-day week
§ Bring portion sizes for all menu items each day
Ø Assistance in completing the Simplified Nutrient Assessment Tool
§ Bring recipes
§ Bring CN Labels or manufacture product information sheet
§ Bring Nutrition Fact Labels – including the products ingredient list
